Research Experience

My research interests include materials, manufacturing and relevant topics. So far I have been directly involved in three research works in the field of materials processing and characterization, polymer composites, and tribology. However, I have also been engaged in a few collaborative review papers and book chapter writing. Currently looking forward to learning and conducting research in the area of Additive Manufacturing.

Title: Melting Induced Trace Impurity Effect on Electrical, Optical and Physical Characteristics of Copper

​Funded by: Military Institute of Science and Technology,  Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, and Energypac

Supervised by: Prof. Dr. Sheikh Reaz Ahmed, Head of ME Dept, BUET

  • An experimental investigation to study the effect of repeated melting of copper mainly on mechanical, electrical, and optical properties through a series of experiments and also analyzing the SEM images and EDS results 

  • Further, to improve the properties, two kinds of treatment methods were followed, namely, mechanical treatment (cold deformation) and thermal treatment (annealing) under different conditions.

Title: Effect of Fiber Modification on Mechanical Behavior of Jute Fiber Polymer Composites Subjected to Hot Compaction

​Funded by: BUET

Supervised by: Prof. Dr. Sheikh Reaz Ahmed

  • Investigating the mechanical properties of modified fiber composites subjected to hot compaction 

  • Fiber modification done by adhesive materials: biodegradable molasses and resin-based synthetic dye 

  • Carrying out heat treatment of these composites to see the impact on properties at various temperature

Title: Effect of Long-used Machine Oil on the Tribological Behavior of Copper-based Gear Materials 

​Funded by: BUET

Supervised by: Dr. Salim Kaiser (DAERS, BUET) and Dr. Sheikh Reaz Ahmed

  • Examined the mechanical and wear behavior of brass and bronze alloys in dry and wet environments

  • Al-bronze performed better wear properties with a low wear rate and friction coefficient

Title: Development and Testing of Silver Doped Hydroxyapatite Coating on Titanium Alloy for Biomedical Application

​Funded by: MIST and BCSIR

Supervised by: Assistant Prof Dr. Muammer Din Arif, Dept of ME, MIST

 

**Collaborative work with Prof Dr. Arif and two final-year undergraduate students Shahanewaz and Nayeem. My aim was to learn the SEM, impact of PVD coating, and materials characterization. 

  • Development of Silver-doped Hydroxyapatite.

  • Development of Ag-doped HAp coating on Ti alloy via sol-gel method

  • Characterization of Ag-doped HAp via SEM, EDS & XRD analysis.

  • Antimicrobial property testing and hardness testing of coating.
