Reminiscing Good Old Days...

A journey...

And a few hundred words.....

At first, I hesitated to write about my friends, unsure of how to capture them without sounding overly flattering. But after a couple of backspaces, I realized these memories are genuinely meaningful. So here I am, sharing a few thoughts from the heart, remembering the good times as our varsity days come to a close.

It all began on February 6, 2016, our first day at MIST. After three years and nine months, our last class was on October 24, 2019. The memories we've created over those four years are unforgettable. As we reminisce about our farewells, we recall stories from classrooms to cafes, Osmani Hall nights, Mechanical Engineering Day, picnics, past farewell programs, setting up stalls all night for Boishakh, spring and monsoon festivals, color fests, concerts, and unforgettable tours. These moments wouldn’t be complete without mentioning certain people who made them special.

From the first year to the last day, before every CT, Mid, Lab Quiz, and final exam, the one I would always call with a desperate “Brother, save me!” was Tasif. I am forever grateful to him. Then there are Dipta, Radin, Roman, Captain Emon, Akif Bhai, Shanto, and K. Rashik, who’ve been by my side to this day. Tanzim, Miran, Samin, Nasir, Piash, Rushad, Junan – each of them added to the beauty of this journey in their own unique ways. Half of my university life was spent with Dipta and Dibbo (BME), talking about everything and nothing at Elephant Road. We were neighbors, after all! Late nights at Dhanmondi Lake became our regular haunt. Those days were simple but full of laughter, debates, and endless roaming.

Our first tour started in the 13th week of our first year. Out of nowhere, 19 of us decided to take a one-day trip to Khaiyachara Waterfall, led by Iqbal Brother, our group leader of "Udash Dushtu Chheler Dol." That was just the beginning. One by one, we explored Bogalake, Keokradong, Kaptai, Napittachara, Cox's Bazar, Tanguar Haor, and Saint Martin. At the beginning of 2019, we even ventured into the historic Himachal Pradesh in India, and later, trekked through Bandarban’s Nafakhum-Thanchi in our final year.

Our department also organized a memorable "study tour" to Cox’s Bazar and Chittagong’s Abul Khair Steel. I will never forget the “debate competition” between Samin, Radin, and Emon at the peak of Keokradong Mountain at 1 am or the three nights we were stranded in heavy snowfall during a 19-day trip to India or in the bus while coming back from Cox Bazar. We survived freezing midnights at -25°C, moments like these are unforgettable. Then, there was Mahtab and me arguing knee-deep in mud. Haha!

All I can say is that without these people from ME-14, my university life would have been so much harder. These memories are stored in my mind like treasures to cherish with a golden morning or an afternoon tea.

Stay well, everyone. Good luck in the days to come, and take care.

See you all in victory.
